Florida Credentials Review Committee
Overview of Duties & Resources
The Credentials Review Committee, created by the 2021 Reimagining Education and Career Help (REACH) Act, plays a crucial role in shaping Florida’s workforce development.
Define and Evaluate Credentials of Value
The committee sets criteria to identify valuable credentials that align with the needs of Florida’s job market. These criteria, known as the Framework of Quality, include degree and non-degree programs that prepare individuals for high-demand careers and ensure they achieve meaningful employment and competitive wages.
Establish Review and Approval Processes
The committee conducts reviews of credential applications on a quarterly basis, adding approved ones to the Master Credentials List. They also perform an annual review to ensure the list remains up-to-date and relevant, removing any credentials that no longer meet quality standards.
Link Education to Occupations
The committee connects educational programs (CIP codes) and industry certifications (CERT codes) to specific occupations (SOC codes). This helps individuals find the right programs to pursue their desired careers, ensuring education aligns with job market needs.
Data-Driven Decision-Making
The committee utilizes comprehensive data collection and evaluation to ensure credentialing decisions are evidence-based. This data-driven approach informs the development of funding formulas that incentivize educational institutions to focus on programs with high job placement rates and strong wage outcomes.
Committee Members
The members of the Credentials Review Committee include private and public sector leaders in business, workforce development, education and government.
