Paul O. Burns, Ed.D

Paul O. Burns, Ed.D., joined the Florida Department of Education as the Deputy Chancellor for Educator Quality in 2018 bringing with him nearly 20 years of education experience. 

In January 2023, he was elevated to Chancellor of Public Schools. In this role, he supports the teaching and learning of over 2.9 million students in approximately 3,600 Florida public schools by promoting student achievement and supporting Florida educators. Chancellor Burns also provides ongoing leadership and communication with Florida school districts statewide. Prior to joining the Department, Chancellor Burns served as a classroom teacher and school principal, among numerous other school leadership roles.
