Tallahassee, FL — Today, CareerSource Florida commends Governor Ron DeSantis for his proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Floridians First Budget, which continues to prioritize workforce development and economic opportunity for all Floridians. The Governor’s commitment to strengthening Florida’s talent pipeline ensures businesses have access to a skilled workforce and job seekers have pathways to meaningful careers.
“Governor DeSantis’ proposed Floridians First Budget demonstrates a strong commitment to building Florida’s workforce for the future,” said CareerSource President and CEO Adrienne Johnston. “Investments that support veterans and military spouses, expand opportunities in rural communities, and modernize our workforce technology systems will help ensure all Floridians have access to the training and resources needed to succeed in high-demand careers. These initiatives further strengthen our talent pipeline and position Florida as a national leader in workforce innovation.”
The proposed Floridians First Budget includes significant investments to advance workforce priorities across the state, including:
- $1.5 million for Veteran and Military Spouse Workforce Funding. This supports Local Workforce Development Boards in providing targeted training, career services, and supportive programs for veterans and military spouses—especially those facing barriers to employment—helping them transition into high-demand civilian careers.
- $2 million for the Rural Workforce Funding Program. This expands workforce services in Florida’s rural communities, equipping job seekers with in-demand skills and strengthening local economies through enhanced access to training and employment opportunities.
