Ray Rodrigues
Ray Rodrigues took office as chancellor of the State University System of Florida in November 2022. Prior to his appointment, Rodrigues served as the Florida senator for District 27, which covers the majority of Lee County. He has served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives in various roles including chair of the Senate Reapportionment Committee and chair of the Senate Government Operations Committee. He served as chair and House majority leader on the Health and Human Services Committee. Prior to his service in the Florida House of Representatives, Rodrigues served on the Lee County Housing Authority and held elected office in the Stoney Brook Community Development district. He worked for Florida Gulf Coast University for 17 years, where he served as the director of interagency partnerships, director of community relations and business manager for the College of Arts and Sciences. Rodrigues previously managed the U.S. import compliance team at a corporate component of General Electric, where he worked for a decade. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Berry College and his master’s degree in public administration from Florida Gulf Coast University.
