
Paul O. Burns, Ed.D
Paul O. Burns joined the Florida Department of Education in 2018 as the Deputy Chancellor for Educator Quality bringing with him nearly 20 years of education experience.
In January 2023, he became the Chancellor of Public Schools. In this role, he supported the teaching and learning of nearly 2.9 million students in approximately 3,700 Florida public schools by promoting student achievement and supporting Florida educators.
In August 2024, he was elevated to the role of Senior Chancellor and his responsibilities expanded to include overseeing the offices of early learning, public schools, school choice, safe schools and school accountability. Additionally, he provides ongoing leadership and communication with Florida school districts statewide.
Senior Chancellor Burns is humbled and honored to serve the students and educators of the great state of Florida in this capacity.
