CareerSource Florida takes very seriously the job placement investigations of two of Florida’s 24 locally managed workforce development boards, CareerSource Pinellas and CareerSource Tampa Bay, who may have misreported job placements to the state. As the state workforce policy and investment board, CareerSource Florida strongly supports investigations underway to determine the validity of the two boards’ job placement reporting.

Our partner agency responsible for administrative and fiduciary oversight of Florida’s workforce system, the Department of Economic Opportunity, has directed its Inspector General to conduct a thorough and timely review of the integrity of data provided by these boards and their provision of services to the public. An inquiry by the Florida House of Representatives also is underway.

As we await the findings of these investigations, CareerSource Florida is working closely with the Department of Economic Opportunity to determine if additional policies or other actions are needed to continue to protect the integrity and transparency of the system.

Of utmost importance to the CareerSource Florida network is that Florida’s public workforce system fulfills its mission with honesty, accountability and transparency.
