Dear Fellow Floridian:

Congratulations on your new job! Whether it is your first job, a new job, or the next step on your career ladder, you are taking an important step toward achieving your dreams in the Sunshine State. Every job has an impact on families and communities, and your hard work will make a positive difference in your own life, as well as the lives of others.

Florida is on a roll, and our growing economy is making it possible for us to invest in areas important to Florida families, including record amounts for K-12 education, making college tuition more affordable, and putting more money in the pockets of Florida families.

We are working every day to make Florida first in the nation for job creation. We have cut taxes 50 times for Florida businesses and families. We will keep working to cut taxes on manufacturing and retail businesses, commercial leases and college textbooks, and provide sales tax holidays on back-to-school and hurricane preparedness items.

To help ensure businesses in our state succeed, we will keep working to cut taxes, eliminate burdensome regulations, and invest in education. Florida businesses added more than one million jobs in five years, but we have more work to do. We want to grow the manufacturing industry and Florida’s small businesses to further diversify the economy and guard Florida against another national economic downturn. Our state is already home to 500,000 small businesses, and we want Florida to be the small business capital of the world.

Again, congratulations on your new position. Please let me know your ideas for how we can grow more small businesses and create more jobs throughout our state.

Sincerely,

Rick Scott, Governor
